Benefits of Savasana

Savasana is king of poses. Yet for many it is considered to be one of the easiest asanas. Even though it may look very simple and non-beneficial it is the other way round. After going through yoga poses in a session this is one of the most essential, important of asanas to complete your yoga practice with. Savasana means ‘Corpse pose’ of which it mimics. As we lie down it makes us aware of our body and how each part plays an important role in our lives. It is the asana which gives us the opportunity to Relax.

Benefits include:

  • It relaxes your whole body.
  • Releases stress, fatigue, depression and tension.
  • Improves concentration.
  • Cures insomnia.
  • Relaxes your muscles.
  • Calms the mind and improves mental health.
  • Excellent asana for stimulating blood circulation.

The mind and body should not waver while doing this asana. Full concentration is required and it may prove to be very handy in times when you need the most. A motionless mind and body helps you reach the level of optimum relaxation.

That is why sometimes I only practice yoga for the Savasana.
