Weekly Issue No°3 – Water Guns and Wu wei as Weapons of Choice

on
April 16, 2019
Happy New Year (again). It’s Songkran in Thailand, a festival celebrating the traditional Thai New Year, held in April and marked by the throwing and sprinkling of water. On Koh Tao island it was thankfully limited to one-day, during which I voluntarily sequestered myself. I know what you’re thinking--girl, that’s extreme; or you’re just getting old(er). The latter is true - we are all getting older; the former, not so! The epidemiologist in me will not allow myself to be splashed with water from random, suspect water sources. Fleeing the water guns led me to a day of sea-gazing, reconnected me to the practice of Wu wei, effortless action.

Weekly Issue No°2 – What the Cat on my Terrace Taught Me About Setting Boundaries

on
April 7, 2019
I'm settling into my flat and have a regular visitor whom I call Cat. This week I practiced boundary setting with Cat who at first thought he could barge his way into my chambers and roll around on my yoga mat without consequence. I coronated Smoothie as the seventh food group and am geeking out on flax seeds.

Weekly Issue No°1 – Hi from Koh Tao Island

on
April 1, 2019
Hello from Koh Tao Island, Thailand. I’ve been struggling to find a way to keep all of my friends, family and readers up to date with what’s happening in my life. I’ve decided to publish a digest with the coolest things that I’ve found or pondered upon in the previous week. In Weekly Issue No° 1 you will see that my nomadic wanderings have considerably slowed down. I now live on Koh Tao Island, in a nice flat cooled by ceiling fans. It backs up to a jungle-like area and I'm still not sure why I don't have mosquitos. I motor bike everywhere and keep island time. Although the island is small, there is so much to discover. This week I conquered my fear of going down steep hills, found a zero waste store, and got addicted to peanut butter kale smoothies.
